Sliding rock is yet another hidden treasure located in the foothills of Alpine, Utah. Although recent signs and warnings of No Trespassing have popped up along the trail, locals continue to take advantage of the incredible scenery and icy pool that Sliding Rock offers.
A popular attraction for weekend fun among families and teenagers, sliding rock offers a naturally formed slide down a 15 foot waterfall. Parking at the trailhead is prohibited, however, if you can muster up the courage to ask, some locals will allow you to park on their property, sometimes for a small fee that is donated to an LDS missionary fund.
Once past the gate, the trail follows a dirt road up the mountainside for about 1.5 miles. At the fork take a right and you will soon find a sign pointing to the short foot path to the slide. You will soon find you self surrounded by crystal clear streams leading from the base of the pool.
